Reason and content of the project
In the Russian urban environment there is an extremely small number of publicly accessible places, reflecting the social values of civilization. One-sided functionality gets in the way think freely. The center of Moscow is hopelessly losing its historical identity, atmosphere of continuity, warmth of everyday life. The picture is fragmented and falling apart. Eye lost, not knowing what to dive into, constantly bumping into visual “splinters”, not being able to stay.
The gaze needs space, a run, unemployment, prospect (among the British this is
lawn, lawn, the Chinese have gardens with ponds, flowers and birds, the Japanese have a rock garden).
The authors, not finding samples in urban environment, turn to the life of the Russian village. The project is being implemented as the possibility of replenishing historical experience: in particular, introducing elements orderliness in rural everyday life, the ability to smooth out “frightening contrasts”.
Way
The installation is installed in order to to penetrate the existing environment, change it and create a new one. The viewer is invited to participate directly (to walk through the works, to be near or even inside them). Thus, the installation and its installation location can become an integrated module.
Material
Basic material of objects borrowed from village life. This is an ordinary clothesline (development ideas for using inexpensive materials). During the work we discovered unique properties of this material. The tension of the trellis allows you to create designs, spatial structures. Calculated interval between tensioned ropes creates the effect of transparency and permeation. Vibrations from gusts of wind and the play of sunlight give the works a miraculous, ghostly quality. Property the rope being extended allows you to create large-scale objects.
Installations
The central place of the cycle is installation "Tent". An object located in the center of a large field concentrates attention on himself. He attracts everything around him, organizes space. Excess land is reduced to a compact, orderly view
"Bridge for Insects" implements the logic of linearity, uniformity, order in the reckless Russian landscape. B the landscape introduces the image of stitching, tying together the spreading edges. The contraction creates a tension effect in the disintegrating medium. Holding gropes a new balance reveals preserving forces.
"Staircase" opens the object in existential gap, in the interval between events. Fragile, useless and attractive, it unites disparate elements.
Particular attention was paid to searching certain specifics of the place. The conditions under which this occurs were debugged dialogue of installations with the environment, with the place where each of the works finds its inclusion in the landscape. (Ravine and “Bridge for Insects”. The field between the village and forest, cut through by a road and a “Tent”. Two trees overlooking the meadow and the "Exit". Proximity to the reservoir and "Spike". A damp lowland overgrown with grass and a “Well”. Shores rivers and “Bridge -1”, “Bridge – 2”. A tall tree on the shore of a pond and the “Staircase”. Old willow and “Bench for two”).
